Companies to contract 27 drills for PDVSA

Venezuela state oil company PDVSA has given the green light to 13 companies to contract 27 oil drills for use in both eastern and western Venezuela, PDVSA vice president of exploration and production Luis Vierma said late Thursday.
The new drills will raise PDVSA’s total drill count to 140 from 113, Vierma said.
The majority of the companies are Venezuelan, although China’s CNPC is also bringing one drill, Vierma said.
Companies also participating include 3G Petróleo Servicios, Consultores y Servicios de Mantenimiento Mecánico, Petrex Sudamérica, Petrolog de Venezuela, Transporte Militarek, Venezolana de Servicios Petroleros, Veraica, Constructora Interbolivariana, Corporación Enhestar, Global Venezuelan Rig Services, Guanipa Oil & Gas and Akere Energy, a PDVSA statement said late Thursday. PDVSA will contract the winning companies for 5 years.
PDVSA consulted with 51 national and international companies and drew bids from 22 of them, the statement said.
